My name is Louise Sutherland-Hoyt: Licensed Psychotherapist, Every-Day Warrior, Average Super-Hero. My mission is to help you to overcome the effects of a chaotic, traumatic childhood, empower you over addictions, and to guide you in taking steps toward well-being.
I am a Veteran of the United States Army, Vietnam Era and I am active with boots on the ground in finding ways to help veterans overcome Trauma. I am developing the Every-Day Warrior project as a means to help veterans and other warriors take control of inner wounds and heal in ways that build on strength and courage.
Benchmark is my private practice in Bradenton, Florida and my focus is treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Addictions, and other Compulsive Behaviors in Adults and Teenagers.
Non Suicidal Self Harm (cutting and other self-injury)
I have more than 16 years’ experience working in this field and have acquired skill in using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in alleviating the effects of trauma and addictions.
If you have landed on my site you are already taking the first step in finding help by gathering information.
When you read my pages you will become astonished to learn how closely related the above issues are and how they actually interact with each other to interfere with changes you have wanted to make in your life.
Benchmark is your landing for information about Post Traumatic Stress, Complex Trauma, and Substance Abuse, and how these get in the way of your feeling as good about yourself as you could be. I am providing all kinds of information about process addictions. These are “addictions” that don’t involve a chemical but actually result in achieving the same effect.
I am sharing my knowledge, experience, and perspective with you so that you can make informed choices about getting the help you are looking for:
Fitness and Mental Health
I am now available to conduct evaluations to determine if you qualify you for an Emotional Support Animal and to provide a letter for either your landlord or the airline if you meet the criteria under the federal guidelines.
Even if you aren’t ready to make the call for a therapist, I invite you to subscribe to my Blog so that you can be informed on Trauma, Chemical Addictions, and Process Addictions, and other Compulsive Behavior.
